Solved Cannot increase number of programs in Start menu

Hi all,

I would be grateful if anyone can throw some light on why I cannot seem to increase the number of recently opened programs on my Start menu.

For some reason I can only get the Start menu to display up to ten unpinned programs on the menu. I currently have four programs pinned, with six recent programs unpinned. I am able to pin more than ten programs, and they all appear, but beyond that number no unpinned items appear at all.

I tried changing the number of items field in the Control Panel to higher numbers, and then zero, but the problem never goes. I didn't have this problem originally when I first started and I cannot remember exactly when it first started.

I have the same problem, and I'm assuming that it has to do with the size of my DPI resolution and/or screen text size --- both of which cause the screen text to be fairly large --- not allowing for more items in the Recent Items list. In fact, I even get a little yellow balloon popup telling me there's not enough room in the Start Menu for all of the items, so I'm assuming that applies to my Recent Items as well. Is this your situation also?

I don't believe so. I have the recent programs number set to 16 with enough desktop space around the Start menu, and there was always a blank space on the menu where the other five programs should have been. When I changed the number in Control Panel the space would get larger and smaller. My Recent Items menu was completely unaffected. But thanks for the suggestion!
