Cannot move files to USB

Sorry if this has been posted before, I looked in the forums but couldn't find a solution to my problem.

I'm trying to move files onto a USB but it starts copying the file then the green bar just stops and won't go any further and I eventually have to CTRL ALT DELETE - task manager - end program, to get rid of the window. I tried it again with my external hard drive to the same result. I can copy and paste files on my computer though without any issue.

The weird thing is it has been doing this on and off for a month, with some days it works fine and some days it chooses to be difficult.

Any ideas?

Try updating your USB and chipset drivers.

Drivermax worked really well, thank you for your help! My USB drives all work perfectly. Upgrading from XP to 7 must have messed with them perhaps. Anyways, thanks again.

I ran into one today...
Guy had installed Win7 on an upgrade from Vista and some of his stuff was acting funny. Investigating the drivers I noticed the dates were a bit too new for the disk he was using (as in a week ago)... What we finally decided upon as an explaination was that the Vista drivers where newer than the drivers on his Win7 disk... so it didn't replace them.

Weird stuff!

Turns out it fixed it only for a few days, but now it has gone back to the original problem (you copy a AVI file for example and it will freeze up halfway, or connect an iPod and it will freeze mid-sync). I'll keep installing drivers in case I missed any (there are about 4 or 5 on the list in DriverMax relating to USB but I can only install 2 per day since I got the free trial).

You may have taken an update from something else... If you go back into DriverMax the one that you installed to get it going will still be there, just check mark it again and install... GL I had to do this with one of my wireless connections as a windows update changed the driver and it was locking up my wireless... When you find out what updater changed the driver, select not to update from that source for that equipment.

You will need to install all of them... To get you running again, select one of the ones that it showed you installed before to get your self going and reinstall it... DiverMax will give you the name and version numbers of all drivers required... You can search for those drivers on the net as well... GL
