Cannot Open exe files

I already tried using System Restore and Default File Type Associations Restore but it still doesn't open my programs? And yes, I am an administrator. I would appreciate any help.

1st what program are you trying to open?
2nd we need system specs to understand what computer your on.
3rd Try and give a clearer picture of what your trying to say.

Are you sure that it's not shortcuts (LNK file extensions) that are not opening for you instead of EXE files?
