Cannot shutdown from start menu only restarts!

Hi there! I have searched on this all day and cannot seem to find anything - help a girl out please!!

I have gone through the other posts on this topic from this site and nothing has helped, my power options are set to shutdown when selected, I have also gone into config and done selective startup, also into regedit settings and changed it from a 0 to a 1, that didn't work either!

If I press the power button manually it shuts down but it doesn't like that when I start it up again!

Any insight would be very much appreciated!

Well all I can suggest you now is to shutdown with command prompt with shutdown -s ,run SFC /SCANNOW and restore to earlier point with System restore.

Basically now it's "safe" to shutdown computers with power button.

How long has this issue been going on for? Have you installed any new software recently?

When you shut down using the power button and restart are you getting an error message like this...
