Hi All,
I have tried to upgrade from 7 to 10 at least 6 times and in every instance I get "The Installation failed in SAFE_OS Phase with an error during Replicate_OC operation 0x8007001f - 0x20006" then it reverts to 7.

I have tried to install from a USB stick and using Media Creator Tool then using clean boot, disabled AV etc., and even tried Safe Mode [I know, I know] but am getting desperate. I think I can do a clean install but probably can't do it for free.

Toshiba Satellite L655 P6100 @2.00 GHz 2.GHz with 3 GB RAM, 64 bit Win7 SP1.

It's driving me crazy [which is not long trip:D]

Any help is appreciated. Tom

You can do clean install for free using gatherosstate.exe.

If you would rather do an "upgrade" keeping settings, etc, it will probably work as a 2 stage process which is a bit tedious

1. do a repair install using win7 installation media ( need to reactivate after)

2. do the upgrade to win10

Just in case you want to do a clean install and updating of Windows 7 SP1 and then do a clean install and activation of Windows 10 afterwards.

Use Windows Easy Transfer to back up your files and settings. However, you will need to store the Windows 7/8/8.1 Easy Transfer tool on a flash drive/hard drive or store it on OneDrive or Google Drive as Windows 10 does not have Easy Transfer. Then, do a clean install of Windows 10. You can make a Windows 10 ISO by using the media creation tool. Windows Easy Transfer does not back up your applications so you will need to reinstall them once you have installed Windows 10. Windows Easy Transfer is located in "*driveletter*:/Windows/System32/migwiz*. First back up your files and settings with Windows Easy Transfer and save them onto somewhere not on the hard drive. Then, copy "driveletter:/Windows/System32/migwiz" to somewhere not on the hard drive. Then use the Media Creation Tool to make an ISO. Use WinCDEmu to mount the ISO. Go to the sources folder and run setup.exe. Go through the setup process. Your computer will restart three or more times. Then, continue to go through the setup process. Now copy the migwiz folder and the backup file onto the hard drive. Run Windows Easy Transfer and restore your data. Then reinstall all your programs. You can also use Windows Easy Transfer on a Windows Vista CD to transfer your files to your Win10 installation. Lemme know if you have any questions.

It's been almost 2 months, and odatkid hasn't replied back to any of us.
Any further advice and comments from us is probably a waste of time.
