Hi all,

I have looked in past threads and tried similar solutions, but to no luck, so I am hoping to be saved here.

I have a Windows 7 Home premium, it came with my computer. I have the sticker with the serial code right on it. It's genuine.

Some time ago, a long time ago, I started getting 'windows not genuine' messages. I didn't think anything of it and ignored it, but now I wanted to solve it so I can update to win 10 .

Unfortunately, I can't.
This is what I tried
1. changing serial key from properties, no such option
2. cscript c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ipk <SERIAL> ---- error 0x80070002 , check slui.exe
3. Slui.exe return same error, can't run
4. net stop sppuinotify - System error 2 - cannot find the file specified
5. net stop sppsvc - same
6. No restore point unfortunately
7. chckdsk and sfc /scannow didnt' solve it
8. mgdiag report copy:

I have the genuine code, and a win 7 home premium ISO file, original disk long gone...
The end goal is to update to win10, but I can't do this unless my OS is activated.

Thank you so much for the help!

Hi Snick and thank you for the help :)

Actually, forgot to mention I did. But got a message that the 'upgrade failed and reverted back' to my 'original OS'
I'm using an ISO with SP1 installed, as per the video in the link so didn't uninstall it.

I can't see the key in my computer itself, only in the report I added, and looking at "Windows Product Key" it doesn't look like the one in my sticker, no.

Hi

looks like you have 2 different problems.
1) system not Activated
2) licencing file is corrupt.

First please install KB971033, reboot twice and rerun the tool. That will remove the Activation errors, it might also reset the licencing files.

post a new log, just for my info has this machine been infected and then cleaned by a Virus removal forum .

Hi Torchwood!

Thanks for the help.

Probably had one in the past. I realized I won't be able to activate it, and maybe I don't want to at this state it's in?
I found out about the recovery partition that came with the computer.
I backed up my files first, then used the Dell recovery to return to factory state, activated and all, on Win 7.
I then immediately used the current Win 10 tool to upgrade win 7. It worked perfectly.

Thank you all, this and other posts here really helped me get to the best solution. Awesome forum!
