Can't add anything to the Library

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, on Asus UL20A-A1. No optical drive.
WMP12, the latest version, updated W7.
I did some updates myself, but noticed that there are W7 updates done beforehand.

Problem:

The only way I can add songs to the library is to double-click on the file in a normal folder and play it. The song will then appear in the library.

The WM player itself, under Organise, or under File, has no buttons or anything to allow to add to library. When I click Organise/Manage Libraries/Music, absolutely nothing happens.

In the Windows Explorer, I can add folders to the music library via several means, but this is not reflected in the WM player. There the library is empty.

Have tried to add music via Media Centre, but the same. The music does not show in the WMPlayer.

Please help.

Try this. In WMP, go to Tools > Advanced > Restore media library.

I tried that too, but does not help.

I think the key point is that when I click Organize/Manage libraries, I get absolutely no response. I think I should get a dialog box where I can select a folder from my hard drive to be included in the library.

Thanks very much, but it doesn't help.

If you are running WMP 12 on W7 Home Premium, I would appreciate if you tell me what you get when you click Organize/Manage libraries/music.

Forget about WMP12. I am now running iTunes. Works like a charm. It doesn't need indexing, Libraries folders etc.
I think MS are overcomplicating everything unnecessarily.
