I cant believe I cant figure this out on my own!
Maybe with some time, but I wanna ask for help anyway.

SO I have my main hard drive that has windows 7 on it. i have an old hard drive that has windows XP on it.
I brought my old HD over to a friends house and it boots to XP fine. However now When I plug the same old HD into my new computer, It automatically boots to Windows 7 and doesnt even give the option to boot to XP.

Ive seen it before where during the boot menu it will say:

earlier version of windows
Windows 7

although now I have no option, anyone know what the issue might be?

Unplug the WIn7 HD, plug in XP HD, run a Repair Install to adjust XP to the new hardware: Repair Windows XP - How to Perform a Repair Installation of Windows XP - Part 1 of 2

Since you have separate HD's, boot the preferred HD by setting it first to boot in BIOS setup, then boot the other HD using the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first boot screen. This keeps the HD"s independent to come and go as you please.

that makes so much sense,

can you tell i had been up for hours and didnt think of that????

thanks! ill give er a shot right now.
