Anyone able to get a USB 3.0 flash drive to boot from a 3.0 port?

I made a bootable ADATA 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive using LIli. Also used Yumi to make bootable flash drive. Either way it will not boot when plugged in a USB 3 port.
It does not show up using BBS popup(F8). Nor does it show up in the bios.
It will boot when plugged in a USB 2.0 port.

Also, I can make a bootable USB 2.0 flash drive and can boot from it when plugged in 3.0 port. It shows up in the bios and the BBS popup.

I have tried everything possible. No luck. I'm stumped.
I have the latest bios and driver for this Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller.

USB 3 kicks in only when Windows boots and not until then.

There is no legacy USB 3 enable in the BIOS as far as I know.

So you may have to stick with only USB 2 if you want to boot from a pendrive.

Depends on the MB I guess. There is a legacy USB 3.0 setting in mine. I have never tried to boot from it though. In any case, since you can boot from the USB 2.0 in the USB 3,0 port.

It will not boot. I am having the same problem with clonezilla. It doesn't recognize the USB 3.0 external drive when connected to Renesas, but will only recognize it from the internal USB 2.0 port.

Like GeneO said, if you have an option for legacy USB in your bios enable it. What it does is allows USB 2.0 devices to run on USB 3.0 ports. (Yes I know it should be that way anyway, but...) That should allow you to boot from those ports although it will be at USB 2.0 speed. The drivers that enable USB 3.0 are in the OS and do not load until the OS loads.

What about USB 3.0 point devices being allowed to run on USB 3.0 ports (on a card such as Renesas)?

Just asking for technical info, because if the speed will be at USB 2.0, the only thing it can help is the location of the cord (convenience -being close, ports being on left or right of the computer-, cord size, etc.)

I have had problems with my Windows 7 laptop recognizing external hard drives.

After much internet searching I found a number of suggestions saying to remove the battery, turn the computer off, then hold down the start computer button to drain any power, then reboot.

Well, that sounded pretty stupid, but, I tried it, and now my external hard drive is recongized.

It looks like a mobo restriction. I have 2 recent PCs where I can boot with USB3 sticks from the USB3 ports.
