I have read http://www.sevenforums.com/software/287311-i-can-t-create-new-folder-anymore.html but have not tried it yet since my situation may be different.
I hooked up a Seagate 2TB USB external HDD today. I can view files on it (such as they are—if I click on the .exe files I get a dialog box that says this software is not what is needed. It is dated January, 2009. This drive came from Amazon today.)
When I click on the drive in Windows Explorer the second text line has the words New Folder. I click on it and nothing happens. If I click on the C: drive and New Folder nothing happens.
If I right-click on the drive and then click on New I don't get the option for New Folder--I get Briefcase. (No idea what that is!)
Is this due to connecting the external drive or is it a system problem which can be resolved by following the advice in the above link?
(When I boot a dialog box does appear for less than 1/2 second and appears to be empty? Never saw this before connecting the new drive.)
