cant crossfire my 2 cards

Hey there, I am new here so dont mind my low post count. But i just recently got a 6850 radeon Sapphire ati graphics card, I have been using a sapphire radeon 4850.... So i decided to crossfire them, its connected and my computer is reading the 2 cards but in my CCC I Can not find the crossfire option....

I was under the impression that you cant do it with such lower spec cards. 2 x 4850's maybe but not 6850 and a 4850.

I Thought it was possible to hybrid the 2 cards. Also its picking up both cards and when i plug my monitor into the other card it still picks it up.

you can crossfire a 6850 and a 6870 but you can't crossfire 2 cards that aren't from the same line.

remember the architecture of the 2 cards you have is vastly different as are the capabilities.

if by some miracle you could crossfire them then your 6850 would be severly reduced in performance so much so that you would be better off not using them together, be glad it doesn't work, i know the ati support staff are glad it doesn't.

Alright thank you all for the help. I either will break down and buy another card just for the core purpose of crossfire or ill just one.

From everything I'm reading I would stick with the one and save yourself all the headaches heat and power for minimal gains at best !
