Solved Can't fix corrupt files

Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.

Problem: Explorer has been crashing recently and I ran SFC/SCANNOW. Told me it found corrupted files but could not repair them. I tried this with and without explorer running. Can anyone give me a fix for this? Log file is included. Had to make it a word doc so it would meet size req.

Yes boohbah. Ran it three times and got the same error messages each time. I don't know how to read or even how to go through log files but I think the log file has all three runs in it.

Steps 1-3 and 5-7 of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 will help you get installation media, backup any important files (just in case), and obtain your license keys for software (just in case) and the Windows license key (you will need this key).

writhziden: is there a way to fix it without doing the repair install? I really don't want to have to reinstall all of my anti-malwares, anti-viruses, and system "fixers." Also, is there a way to "replace" explorer? As in copying it to disk, closing the running one, and replacing it with a "fixed" copy? I remember vaguely being able to do that in XP when I got the W32 virus way back when. I just don't remember the dos code to do it.

A repair install is the simplest method, but you can also attempt OPTION THREE of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html to manually replace the files that are corrupted. The success rate of that method is pretty low in my experience, which is why I generally just recommend the repair install since that will be required if manually replacing the files does not work.

After replacing the files manually, you should restart your computer and then run SFC /SCANNOW again to make sure it comes back with no integrity violations.

Are you familliar with log files? If so, can you possibly help me to understand them so I can identify the corrupt files that need replacing? I have no experience with log files at all.. I don't know how to read them.

Your log file contains no information regarding the SFC /SCANNOW output...

Also, in the future, upload the CBS.LOG file after compressing (zipping) it.

Here are the steps I usually give for SFC /SCANNOW:

Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

In our massive tutorial collection there is a tutorial on how to extract a file from a Win 7 DVD.
I'll let you look for it. Try looking at the tutorial index, then use Ctrl+F to open the find box and type Extract

Thanks you guys for all the help. I ended up having to do a full re-install (I had to back everything up on my external HD's (which was a pain)) but its working fine again. Appreciate all the input.
