It worked fine on my XP computer but won't install on 7. Right now if I want to use it, I have to copy the photos to an external hard drive, unplug the monitor, external hard drive, mouse and keyboard cables from my 7 computer and connect them to the XP computer and boot it up, use the program, copy the pictures to the EHD again, then reverse the cable swap. It's getting old to say the least. What is a compatible version that would work on 7? An older version is fine as I rather just buy it used on Ebay anyway. And I don't want to learn a new system so it must Adobe. Would any of the Photoshop Elements 3, 4, 5, etc. work?

hello, did you try installing it in compatibility mode ,if not try that ,right click on the .exe install file and choose properties, then compatibility ,choose xp, .I have a copy of photoshop 5.5 that I ran on xp, .haven't used it for years now but just recently installed it on win8.1 and win10 prieview, and it works fine.

aslo to eliminate all that moving around you could try a kvm switch and setup 2 computer side by side using one monitor .

I tried that but nothing happens. Could it be because I'm running 64 bit Windows?

Yes, many programs that worked on WinXP don't work on the newer 64-bit versions of Windows. WinXP was 32-bit except the Pro version was also available as 64-bit but not too popular as there wasn't much available in the way of suitable software and drivers were problematic. I've retired my WinXP computer but still have a 32-bit Vista running for such things as you need, all my other Desktops are 64-bit. I have 4 computers connected to one monitor, one mouse and one keyboard via a KVM switch and store needed files on a NAS drive.
