Hi,

I added a new graphics card to a system and Windows (Ultimate x64) is not detecting it. I don't see anything new or unknown in the device manager. BIOS is set to use the external PEG (PCI-E card) if present, if not use the onboard one.

I see the fan spinning, so I know power is going to the card.

The mobo is Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P rev 2.3 and the card is a basic Nvdia GF7200GS. It's a PCI-E card that doesn't require power from the PSU.

I updated BIOS to the latest flash and it is set up to use the onboard card UNLESS there's an external PCI-E one. If I choose to use ONLY the external one, then I won't have video out and have to reset BIOS.

Any suggestion? Could it be a faulty mobo slot? It's all I can think about at this time.

Thanks in advance!

I have a Gigabyte motherboard (different model) and had to disable the onboard graphics before it would let me use the video card. The other options would not work.

Can't see a reason why use a GeForce 7200 GS if it's same as the onboard one.

You may have to disable the onboard GPU from the bios. I don't need to do it in my case because it's automatic.

Hi,

Thanks for replying!

It's a friend's computer, and I gave him this spare card I had. It wouldn't use the ram, I guess that's all the benefit.

Anyway, it should work. But it doesn't. If I disable onboard then I won't have video out and have to reset BIOS settings.

So I guess I'm facing a faulty mobo port, right? Because it works ok in other PCs.

You could be. Try removing the CMOS battery and put it back again to see if it works
