Recently I have been trying to install some programs but i keep getting an error similar to this:
"Error occurred while attempting to create a directory in folder Program Data. Insufficient privileges. Install as administrator."

I keep getting the same error and I am trying to install Adobe Acrobat X Pro (if anyone is interested to know). And yes I am on an administrator account and i even tried installing it from the super administrator account. I have no ideas on how to fix this problem

Any help is appreciated :D. Thank you :)

Hi and welcome to sevenforums
Since you have already tried with both administrator and super administrator, can you disable UAC and check?
Disable UAC on Windows 7
Windows 7 makes it much easier to deal with UAC settings, and in fact you don’t have to completely disable UAC if you don’t want to.
Just type UAC into the start menu or Control Panel search box.
You can simply drag the slider up or down, depending on how often you want to be alerted.
If you drag it all the way down to the bottom, you’ll have disabled it entirely.

It is not recommended to keep UAC disabled, so once you have completed an installation re-enable UAC.

Let us know what happens.

Hmmm..thought so.

We will try a SFC (System File Checker) scan to see if you have any corrupt system files.
Click Start
Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD
Click 'Run as Administrator'
At the Command Prompt, type: sfc /scannow

This will check for any integrity violations and fix any corrupted operating system files.

Restart your system and let us know.

Note: This will remove any 3rd party themes you have installed.

Ok, Lets dig into some more detail.
Lets see who has ownership of that folder,
ProgramData > Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner
What is listed under Current owner:
Open command prompt and fire the below commands and let me know the results,
1. attrib c:\programdata
2. cd \ProgramData
dir /al

From the screenshot, ProgramData folder is read-only. Can you uncheck it from properties and try installing and let us know the results.

You can remove the system and read-only attributes through command prompt.

Open cmd and fire the commands below,

attrib -r -s c:\test

I know it is, it's not unchecking because some files can't change so it goes back to read only
