Hi, im new to the forum so i wasn't really sure where to make this thread.

I have a Toshiba Sattelite that came with a pre installed windows 8.1 and i cant stand windows 8.1 so i tried to install Windows 7, i disable secure boot and changed bios to CSM mode but when i was going to select the disk where to install windows 7 a GPT error appeared so i started to search how to convert a disk from GPT to MBR and here is where the problem begins, my laptop only has 1 disk, and it was divided in 5 partitions 2 of the OEM and one of them MSR, i was able to delete the OEM ones by using diskpart but now i have around 1 gb of unallocated space and the expand volume on the main partition is grayed out, i cant delete the MSR one because it has windows 8.1 files in it, but now i cant convert the disk to MBR because its divided in 4 different parts (but i was able to delete the 5th non OEM/MSR partition and expand the main partition afterwards, i just can expand using the OEM ones).

Oh yeah and i almost forgot my main partition is a dynamic partition...

Heres a screenshot showing my problem:

Windows language is in portuguese, sorry bout that i normally use english but this was pre installed so

You need to change that dynamic partition to basic.

I would get your data off that drive then delete it down to unallocated space, then install W7 to the entire drive, convert the drive to MBR before you start.

Do you have an activation key for 7 ?

I cant clean the disk because theres no delete partition option on the remaining 2 partitions, and when i try using clean in diskpart it retuns a error saying that the disk has the curret boot volume and system files.

And what i have is a pre activaded Windows 7 DVD, so no CD Key.

You can`t delete windows while you`re using it, you have to boot from the windows 7 dvd, are you doing that ?

Off to work, Greg will probably be in to help you further ;)

Oh so after i delete all the partitions while using the win7 dvd the other unallocated parts that i cant add to the main partition right now will be reintegrated into the main one? And i had no idea you could convert the driver to MBR while in the win7 setup, hopefully everything will workout and i wont endup with a laptop stuck without a OS.

Thanks for the help so far, have a good day at work.

Are you booting the Win7 installation media, choosing Repair or pressing Shift + F10 to get to a command line to run Diskpart Clean Command? Quite obviously you can't clean a disk while you are booted into it.

If this fails in Diskpart try List Partition command to get the remaining partition number, then Select Partition # and Delete Partition Override. Once deleted, Clean the disk anyway.

Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7
