can't intsall the sims2 back on

hi all.
as you have readin in the title in just cant get the game installed back on.

mij father wanted the games to be on the external harddisk, so my brother tryed tho do that.

it just gone totally wrong so we had to unstal the sims and now we cant get it back on.

can some one please help me?, i really want to play the game angain.

Hi and welcome to the forums, please can you be more specific about not being able to reinstall the Sims 2. Is there an error message or will it just not load? Could you also please fill in your System Specs in User CP.

Without knowing too much about what is wrong why not try a system restore to before it all went wrong and then try installing the Sims 2.

well when i put te disk in mi pc it just does nothing.
no error, no window or what so ever.

hi vanriel anne welcome to the forums, can you please fill out your system specs in the User CP so we know what we're working with please? also please put which version of windows you are using, and whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit

from your initial description of the problem it sounds like Autoplay isnt kicking in, have you tried running it by clicking Computer>D:\ (assuming your cd drive is D:\)>autorun.exe ? sorry if thats a tad obvious and you have already tried it, but im just trying to cover all the bases

Go to Computer and double click on drive D:\ if you haven't already done so.

Post back with any results.

nope doubble-klicking on te disk drive doesnt work either, i do get a win dow taht asks for permissoin to run te soft ware.

when i gave the permission the pc does what it normally does, spinning the disk, bud after 15 sec. it stops.

by the way, i have tryed to fill in as many forms as plauseble.

next, i would recommend doing a system restore back to the point before your brother started messing with it, with a little bit of luck, that will undo whatever it is that he did

vanriel anne iv just had a thought, your anti virus may interfere with the restore, so if it doesnt work, try it in safe mode, (spam f5 when you switch your pc on until you get a screen asking which OS to boot then press f8 and select safe mode)

my computer> hard drive> restore prevous versions?.
bud if i do this al the programs that hafe been installed and added after the problems haf begon stay the same or ...?:shock:

if you do a system restore, all programs that have been installed/uninstalled since the restore point will go back to the way they were at the time of the restore, you can get more information, and how to do it here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

obviously its down to you whether you do it, but i would recommend it, as if it doesn't work, i have another idea, but it kind of relys on the system being restored to a point where it was installed

cuz my dad does download alot of music from limewire and he freaks-out if everthing is gone.
and there is more stuff i dont wanna lose...

hi vanriel, if you do a system restore, it won't delete any personal files such as music, unfortunately i'm guessing that by this point (its been a while) that a system restore will be more hassle than it's worth? if the sims 2 is uninstalled at the moment, then i suppose you can try Ccleaner: CCleaner - Home use the registry clean option (make a backup first just in case) i suspect this issue is down to the dodgy uninstaller that comes with all Sims games, i found when I had to uninstall sims 3 that it took me a good hour of wading through the registry to clear everything out

the easiest way, is to create a restore point just before using the cleaner (just type "restore point" into the start menu it will be the first option) then if everything goes Pete Tong (it shouldn't do.. but you never know) you can do a system restore either from your Windows disk if it leaves windows unbootable (and again... this shouldn't happen) or from in windows itself if you find something unstable/unusable. by restoring to the restore point you have just made, you shouldn't lose anything
Remember to reboot the computer after cleaning the registry to make the changes take effect

Hi anne, sorry if that wasn't very clear,

from your start menu, type "restore point"
an option should come up saying "create a restore point" click it, and proceed to make one, following the instructions on screen,
then run Ccleaner's registry cleanup option
restart your computer
