Hello

Outlook 2010 will not find my .pst file. To my knowledge I have not deleted it. I have not used Outlook in quite some time and decided to start using it again.

I use Win 7.

I have unhidden all of the system folders and hidden files. As I have gone into AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook I do not find the file in there.

I have done a complete system search for Outlook.pst and I have found nothing.

As a result of this, Outlook will not even start in order for me to create a new file from within Outlook.

Please help me with my next step in being able to resolve this.

I appreciate your help.

Jason

You did look in drive:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook.
Also in "Documents\Outlook" ??
Both folders exist?

Did you upgrade to outlook 2010 or created the pst file from within Outlook 2010?

Thank you for writing back.

It is not in Documents/Outlook either. :(

It was a new computer and I purchased office. All of the other programs are working fine.

When I open Outlook it says, "The file C:\Users\Jason Smith\Documents\Outlook Files\Outlook.pst cannot be found".

If I click "OK" then it takes me to a menu to locate the .pst file which I can not find anywhere. On the locate file window, if I press "cancel" then it says the same things as before (the file ... cannot be found).

If I click "OK" again then it takes me back to the locate file window again. If I press cancel again then I get an error message that says, "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\ ... .pst cannot be found.

After I click "OK" then the window closes and everything looks as though I had never tried to open Outlook.

right click on "Outlook Files" and select "restore previous version"
Select the most recent one and try "open" so NOT restore! Is the file outlook.pst there?
Select the one before most recent one and do the same. etcetra
Can you find outlook.pst?

Solved!

Thank you for your help

I discovered what the problem was and it was my own error.

I was looking for "outlook.pst" but I had previously created a profile apparently and so it was a .pst file under a different name but in the same folder. Once I directed Outlook to that profile, it opened up perfectly.

I do have another question of an issue that is rising up, but I will post it to a new thread as it seems to be an unrelated issue.
