Cant open any programs on win 7

Hi I having trouble on my acer laptop Im running windows 7 home premium 32 bit edition... When I click on a program I get a pop up window saying File download / security waring do u want to run or save this file...if i click on run or save its still doesnt allow me to open any programs .

how odd is it a new laptop? has it worked previously? what about if you goto games in your program list and try to open solitaire for example?

Im wondering if your trying to open some trialware that was preinstalled

also could you goto one of the offending shotcuts right click it select properties and tell us whats written in the "target" box

Run your anti virus and download and run malwarebytes. If you cannot run the anti virus, I will get you an online scan.

Its a fairley new laptop bout a year old no previous problems like this

so its pointing to something in your downloads folder not a program .exe (actually it is pointing to internet explorer)

try another on thats not working post up the target and tell us what its supposed to open

you might have to take rich's advice and do an AV scan pronto

another thing to try goto c drive then all programs find a program any program and try running the .exe directly from the program folder see if its just your shortcuts that are screwed up

i downloaded malwarbytes program But when i try to install it I get that same window that keeps popping up run or save....and if i press run or save the window just pops back up

Some malware stop you from opening programs so you cannot delete. Try the online scan.

thats an installer (to install the program not run it) have you tried running a program directly from your c drive?

eg c drive/local disk c/program filesx86/then open up a program folder find the launch .exe and try to run it from there?

Go for the online scan. I do not know what that information means.

Just trying a differant angle mate , if he can run the programs directly from the launcher in his program folder we can repair all his shortcuts , it may be malware it may not

It seems like a broken association go to this Tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html and Download ink and exe then try to open a Program and see if that works.

If that didn't do the trick then

• Open your Notepad.
• Copy and Paste this code in the notepad:
