I have Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail. I can access my messages fine using WLM both from the header list and from the "find" selection. But with WLM running, if I go into the the WLM message store files with Windows explorer and try to open individual eml files it doesn't work anymore after another big WLM problem.
I get a message "Windows Live Mail could not be started because another instance of it is still running on your computer", and sure enough, Task Manager Processes shows another wlmail.exe *32 process running. When WLM is not running, and I try to open an eml file from Windows Explorer, WLM tries to start and wlmail.exe *32 appears on the Task Manager Process list, but it never opens or appears on the Task Manager Applications list. I have made WLM a default program and it's listed as the program associated with eml files. Windows Xp had more parameters to be set when you associated a program with a filetype. If this is done automatically in Windows 7, could this have gotten fouled up?
My wife's Windows 7 and WLM laptop can have WLM running and open an eml message from Windows Explorer, and the Task Manager Process list shows no duplicate wlmail.exe *32 listing.
