cant' open mhtml files

I am using windows 7. i also have Sky broadband (so Sky emails) all the emails i want to save to documents finish up in this format and i cant' open them.i have tried downloads that supposedly convert them ,
but nothing happens. is there any other way.i have been at this for weeks and cant' get it solved.
please help.

You should be able to open MIME HTML files (*.mht) natively with Internet Explorer and Opera. For other browsers I think you need an add-on.

Strange, I have no problems in opening standard MHT files with Opera. If you save a normal web page as *.mht, can you open it later with Opera or IE?

For the sake of testing, I saved this page as mht file, both as mht and mhtml, and atteched it to this post (see below).
I can open both files with Internet Explorer and Opera (and Firefox with the addon called UnMht).

Can you open them too?

In addition, you might see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed .mhtml option in the tutorial below may be able to help. It will restore the default associations and registry entries for this file type.

Thanks to you both for replying. First bob------. I tried your link and it didn't' open but my computer went on the blink (literally) it started flashing like mad , I had to reboot it.so I think I will leave that one.
Brink I am just going to have a look at your link now ,will let you know how I get on.

It's the english wikipedia page for MHTML. And the zip contains two different kinds of mhtml files saved from that same source.

If you had issues opening either I would say there is something weird going on there. Can you explain more in detail what does mean "flashing like mad" and when did happen?

Just to confirm, I downloaded the ZIP you posted and had no issues in opening both MHTML files with both IE and Opera.

I clicked on the link you sent me and nothing happened for about 15 secs'.then the screen started to flash IE.on off on off,but not completely off as in blank.flashing very very quickly.it scared me so I turned it off and rebooted.when it came back on it was fine.so I haven't' tried it since.
