Can't send picture in email

I am having a problem with my email, and I hope someone here can help me.

Whenever I send an email with pictures embedded in the body of the email, all the recipient sees is a bunch of red x's. Typically, what I am sending is a forward of something someone else sent to me. Since I received and viewed the pictures just fine, clearly the problem is not in how the pictures are in the email. The preview of my outgoing email always shows the pictures just fine. But the recipients never can view them.

I am using Windows Mail with my Cox email account. I am using the same email on my Vista desktop and Windows 7 netbook. My wife uses the same desktop, with a separate user account. She has the same setup as me - Windows Mail with her Cox email account. The security software is Microsoft Security Essentials. We had previously been using McAfee. My problems remained the same under both softwares. My wife has had no problems with sending pictures. She will receive the same email as me, forward it to someone else, and they can vie the pictures just fine. She can forward an email to me, and I can view the pictures. But if I forward that email back to her, like everyone else, all she sees is red x's.

Can anyone solve this strange problem? Thanks very much in advance for any help!

Does your wife have your email address in her account's address book? By default most email programs will refuse to show images from senders not known to be safe, so it is worth checking that your email address is listed in there. Is your email address disguised in any way?

Thank you everyone for your replies and suggestions!

Yes, she does. Also, no one I send pictures to can see them, not just my wife. And I am on most of their contact lists as well. So I don't know how everyone could have accidentally blocked pictures from me. It definitely appeared the problem is on my end.
I do not believe my email address is disguised in any way. I'm not certain exactly what that means, but I certainly did nothing to try and disguise it. It displays my full name when I email people.

So which operating system are you having trouble with as you've posted the same problem over at Vistax64.
Can't send picture in email - Vista Forums
Yes, I have posted this question in multiple forums, as I have not yet found any potential solutions. As I clarified in my question here, I use this email on two computers - a Vista desktop and a Windows 7 netbook. Both using the same Cox email account through Live Mail. Regardless of which computer I send the email from, the result is the same - people cannot see my pictures.

I'm going to suggest that you use Picasa3. It's free and easy to use :)
Picasa 3: Free download from Google
Thank you for the suggestion. But I would really rather not add more programs to my computer. I just want to figure out how to solve this problem with the program I am already using and am familiar with.

Thank you, Richard!!!

It looks like that worked!

But I also have to do this every time - before sending the email, click on format, and select send pics with email. Is there any way to make this my default setting, so that pics will automatically send with the email. Then my problem would be well and truly fixed.

Thanks so much again! You have been so very helpful!

I am happy that I could help, but the enthusiasm is limited by my less than complete success. I do not know of a way to make the setting permanent by default. It is suppose to stay at the setting chosen. Make sure that rich text is chosen.

If I had to guess, I would say that the problem may be security related, try with the antivirus disabled or reset.

You can try using another email client, Thunderbird is used by many at the Forum.
Thunderbird - It?s All Yours

Finally, there is the solution that I would try first on my computer. Uninstall and then install the email client. I think it is corrupted.

Whatever you choose I wish you the best. TY for the rep.

I actually googled the exact phrase I had to check "send pictures with email," and believe I found a permanent solution.

I had to go to Options>Send>HTML Settings>and check "send pictures with email." It now appears to be permanently checked under the Format menu. Yay!

Thanks again for your help!
