Hi All. I'm trying out a new keyboard since my old one is very old and even most of the letter printing on the keys have been long gone.

It's a Logitech 'Comfort Wave' MK570. Overall I'm liking it but still getting use to it. The one big annoyance, however, is here are No indicator lights! I have no idea when Caps Lock is on, or even if the Num Pad is on.

It's a real pain not knowing if the problem I have logging onto sites, like his one, is due to the Caps lock being on or not.

For such a relatively nice keyboard, I'm surprised that Logitech cheaped out on something like this. And their Web site say there is no owner's manual available!?

Are there any recommended utilities that show if the Caps lock is on/off on screen?
.

Hi,
I believe there is a sound option if caps lock is activated.

I personally disable caps lock I don't need it at all.
I only use numbers lock for the numbers pad :)

A google search reveals that there are a few programs that can display alerts that show Caps Lock status. I have not tried any or needed them. If I need to know if Caps Lock has been left on I just open a new text document and start typing.

Hi Callender. I'm very gun-shy of 'free' downloads as I've been bit with them years ago. That's one reason I got Revo Uninstaller Pro. Heck, the last 'free' download I tried took me a week to clean up the mess it made of my system.

Have you used Softpedia?

If you made an image of your system with a program such as Macrium Reflect Free, you could easily recover from a bad download or program installation in just a few minutes. I make an image before I install anything, even program and system updates.

Another idea:

A keyboard that DOES have a caps lock indicator.:)

I use the MS Ergo 4000 (wired) for my Win7 and Win10 desktops.
USB PnP
Caps lock, num Lock, F lock, Scr lock indicators.
Comfy to use, especially for many hours on the computer.
Lots of advanced features (most of which I do not use).

Just a silly thought and not quite the answer to the OP's question.

Yes I use Softpedia often. I know what you mean about "free downloads" (software) when the installer comes bundled with unwanted extras. I always scan the downloaded installer before actually running it. If you spot an application that interests you I'm happy to test it.

Well I tried Portable TrayStatus:

Portable TrayStatus Download

It runs without install and it's a single executable. It only runs on demand but can be configured to start with windows.

It shows an icon in the system tray showing Caps Lock status (if configured via options)

Actually it's pretty easy when using some browsers to change a setting so that you can see what is typed into a password field.

7 Help Forums Login .jpg

Note: That is not my actual login (in screenshot)

I'm not sure that forum rules allow me to post details of how to do that. Really those asterisks only prevent someone who is looking over your shoulder spotting your password on screen.

I certainly don't let browsers remember any login details. The hack refers to being able to view what you are actually typing into the password field. :)

Or simply type something into google.

Personally, if the keyboard is new and you don`t like the fact that is does not have lights, I`d return it.

Do some research and get what you want :)

As I mentioned in my earlier reply, the MS Ergonomic 4000 is great.
And it has a caps lock indictator.:)
But I'm sure there are many other options.
