card reader disapears after standby

Hi folks,

I'm having issues with my 7-1 card reader built in my HP Compaq nx6325.

I installed Win 7 x64 half a year ago and everything runs smoothly except the card reader which is reported as TI PCIxx12 Device. I found a driver meanwhile and the Reader is recognized as device and can access the card, however, only after a startup. Whenever I send the notebook into standby and wake it up again, the whole device is missing in "Computer".

Strangely, if I pull out the Card, Windows gives the sound of unplugging a device, as it does when I push in the card back in again. Then, the sound of connecting a device appears.

When I restart the system, the card is listed in Computer and can be accessed, often however it is claimed unformated.

The driver I use ist the PCIxx12 2.0.0.10 which was the latest I found. 2.0.0.9 gives the same result.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your time!

Have you tried unchecking "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder" in Folder Options?

Thanks for your reply isaaclopez!

I did not even know there's such an option!

However, unfortunately it does not help. Actually, I am using the SD Card as a Readyboost drive which indeed gives some performance increase when toggling between applications. At least this is my feeling.

But without being able to standby the system, this does not make much sense.

Did you do a clean install or an upgrade install?

i wonder if this is something to do with power options, i honestly dont know, but its worth a go,

go to control panel>hardware and sound>power options
click change plan settings on whatever plan your on then change advanced power settings
find the card reader and click the plus sign, there should be something like "allow windows to turn this device off to save power" or "selective suspend" turn it off

Hi Jako,

no, this is the only SD-Card I have. It is a 2GB 60x Corsair Flash Card. What I further tested so far is different File Systems like NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT. This doesn't make a difference.

Card continues to disapear after Standby, but comes back aufter a restart, sometimes as "not formated".

Y think it coud be the card itself?

Are you aware of any other devices that are related to the cardreader (any bus controler....)?

Best,

Ned

Hi Severedsolo,

Good Idea, but I do not find an Option for a Cardreader. U sure there is such an entry for all devices?
