When it's working properly the activity led flashes when SD card is reading, then card shows up in explorer. When it's not working, inserting SD card, the led lights up but no flashing and doesn't show in explorer. Uninstalling drivers in device manager... rebooting system will replace drivers and will work for a while. I tried updating drivers but windows says it's already using the most up to date drivers. Within a short period... month or two... at some point it stops working again. Then I have to repeat uninstalling drivers and the process starts all over again. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello,

The next time the device stops working, you want to read the Device Status of the Device Driver. The Device Status is located in the General tab of the devices properties window.
The Device Status should provide you more information about the problem.

Also, can you try with a different SD card , when the problem occurs ?

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input Iko. I opened "Device Manager" then uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, again, so it's working at the present time.

NOTE: I did try a different SD card and didn't work. Both cards work fine in my other card reader in my second pc.
Also, when card reader is not working, the device status says it's working properly. Strange thing is... reinstalling the drivers seems to fix it for a short while. Anyway, that's all the time I'm going to spend on this issue. Thanks again.

I guess we can call this temporarily resolved.

Does this SD card detection issue have any relationship with Windows update?

Do you think a windows update made the last installed driver obsolete?

Display Driver Stopped Responding and has Recovered
