Case Cooling?

ok so heres my problem. I got my new GPU and its massive. so massive that I cant put my side fan on anymore without having to screw the fan on in an awkward way to get it to fit. but I got it on. the thing about the gpu is that its so long it cuts my case in half.

as of now I have 3 exhaust fans and 3 intake fans including the side fan.

this side fan is extremely annoying and loud but it provides light to the case, and I kinda like that.

so I tested the GPU with the side fan on and it got to 75C and than I tested with the side fan off and it got to 75C so the side fan here did nothing in terms of cooling.


what do you guys think I should do? take the side fan off or leave it on? if I take it off, what should I do with my other fans? should I change the direction of them or qwhat? or should I have the top 2 fans as intake?

if I take the side an off, I may just make my own custom window and add a cold catho or some other lighting device to make it look cool.

basically I want the most optimized airflow.

ok, so the side fan did not help with CPU cooling either running prime for 10 mins each with it on and off had the same temps (within 1-2C). BUT what I did notice Is that it kept the NB on the mobo a bit cooler AND the VRM heat sink.

im going to try and flip my top exhaust fans around and run furmark and prime again to see if helped.

Well for me ,my fans at the top of the case are pointing down that is the only way I can install them

the side fan I have is pushing air in the fans on the front of the case is pushing air to the back so basically most of all my fans are pushing inside except the RAD that is the exhaust to me it has made ZERO difference

You have good fans and a place for hot air to go it shouldn't matter my temps are great and basically all my fans are intake except the RAD/push /pull

OK yea so flipping the top fans did nothing but pus the hot air back down tot the bottom of the case and made my CPU temps higher.

Really it's the NB and VRM heat sink I'm worried about. cpu and gpu within 2C of eachether dosent make a fifference but the difference between the nb and vrms is quite a lot.

Solar you have blower GPUs tho that blow the exhaust out of the case rite?

Yes everything is blowing through the back 1x 200mm on the top 2x 120 Corsairs SP's in the front blowing in 1x 240mm side panel blowing in Synthe Mugen slipstream 2000rmp blowing on the GPU's

2x Corsair SP on the RAD I don't have not one fan blowing out the top or side but the case is so big though the AIRFLOW is insane Thermaltake Element V Big case so that is why I got mad flow

i have an idea..... I need some rubber. the reason the big fan a the other fans are so loud is because of the plastic window. it vibrates. im going to try to work something out with that.

Have you tried double sided insulation tape

it works wonders

Maybe the fan just sucks :shock: lol

I would see if it's the fan being up against something if your GPU is really snug with it on then you just need to take it off

Option would be try a smaller side panel fan LED

or put 2x 120's LED it won't look all to pretty but it will give you that space needed for the GPU

that's what im trying now. im trying my old fan and a single 120mm at the top pointed on the NB and VRMs. the fans are fine, its just the plastic its attached to that creates the loud noise. I have 4 fans 2 200mm ones ad 2 120mm ones. all of the are loud like that.

I would add the other fan to the RAD no wonder your temps are kind of up you need that 2nd RAD fan bro it will do wonders

My temps are fine. It never hits 50c while gaming and just touches 62c in prime. But as of now my only options are the other 200mm fan with the LEDs or taping that 120mm fan on the side and pointing it at the nb and vrm. They both are equally loud bit I think the 120mm one will be better in cooling.

. I wish i didn't have to use anything and . just could make a window. But its just too damn hot in that area. I might just leave the 120 and buy an LED. Or maybe I can flip my rear top fan around. I guess more testing.

welp lol I recon you might have to improvise

you should take that window slap 2x 120's on it and have them facing out it will suck all the heat from the middle out of the side panel

You might need to make new holes for this to work so.... that is an idea

Does the side panel fan have a filter ? If not I wouldn`t even use it. My C70 came with a side panel you can mount 2 120 or 140 mm fans to, it was replaced with clear plexi.

ok so heres what ive decided to do. for now im just going to leave my old 200mm side fan on. its not as fast and dosent move as much air, but it works.

in the future, I most likely will mod my side panel. ill make a clear or maybe smoked window and ill either turn the rear top fan upside down to intake air or buy a small 80mm fan to put on NB. than ill buy some cold cathos to make up for the lighting. I think that will make it quieter and prettier. but first I need the money. so its a future project.
