CCleaner (v2.35.1219) and Firefox - Caution!

This is just a "heads up" warning.
I wasted 5 hours working on my PC, because of this.

The latest version of CCleaner (v2.35.1219) includes a Firefox "Session" cleaner.

I noticed that Firefox was "forgetting" my tabs (from my previous browsing sessions).
I had just been playing with the Firefox configuration files, so I figured that I had broken Firefox.
I spent about 5 hours, reinstalling Firefox and cleaning up my bookmarks (I have multiple profiles).
I tested my new setup and everything seemed to be working correctly.

My usual practice is to run CCleaner after closing Firefox (which I did after testing).

When I started Firefox again, all my tabs had vanished!
It then dawned on me, that it had been working, until I had "CCleaned" my PC.
I opened up CCleaner and I noticed that a new option, called "Session", had appeared in the Firefox section.

This option was deleting my session info and settings.
The moral of the story is, always check program settings, after an update.

Install the FEBE backup addon, at least you'll have a recent copy of your settings should you encounter any new FF issues.

I just culled a few add-ons when I rebuilt FF.
I'll check that add-on out.

I keep separate backups of my bookmarks anyway (I should backup my profiles more often though).
My most recent profile backup, was done in January.

I do have images of my HDD available. I should have just re-imaged my HDD (that would have only taken a few minutes).

I often get "caught in the trap" of thinking, "this will only take a few minutes to fix", only to find that various "simple" fixes aren't working and after trying multiple different ones, I have ended up wasting hours of my time.

I often find, that changelogs don't tell me what I want to know, or they have useless entries like, "a bug fixed from previous version" (not what bug was fixed).

They are kind of like installers. Some programs have good ones (e.g. Firefox) and others are garbage (e.g. Real).

It doesn't work with FF 4.0b4 (on my machine, anyway).

That is a reasonable suggestion.

I've been collecting links for about 6 years.
I have about 10,000 links, bookmarked, in one of my 4 profiles.
One of my other profiles has about 5,000 bookmarks.

About 50% of those are links, are ones that I have been meaning to check out, but I haven't had time to do so.

The problem is the way that I web surf (I am easily distracted).
I often read articles, which contain links to other possibly interesting info/sites.
When I see such a link, I open a new tab.
This means, I often have 50 tabs open and then I don't have enough time to read them all.

I backup my bookmarks using XMarks-also an add-on for firefox and for ie if you desire to allow you to sync between the two.
