New CD.

Meaning what? A new blank CD? A new music CD you just bought downtown for $15? A new CD that you just burned something to?

If you mean a new blank CD, try another new blank. Better yet, try another new brand of blank.

I've heard of CD drives failing to read certain brands and types. I'm not sure what can be done about it as they are rank commodities now that are replaced rather than repaired. You might try to clean the laser, but I don't know how much that might help.
