I've changed my desktop MoBo from a Gigabyte GA-970 Gaming to a GA-990 ud3 ver. 4.0 and now
I'm having a difficult time trying to connect the CD/DVD to the new MoBo. I've gone in the Device
Manager and deleted all the settings under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" but only the HDDs are found,
but not the CD/DVD. Where would be a place to go to find a good CD/DVD driver that works?

Its not a driver issue if its not in device manager its a hardware fault unless you have unknown device showing but any dvd shouldn't need any other drivers. Does it show in the bios.

The problem is that I don't know how to configure the BIOS so it finds the DVD that is installed, or how I can tell if I have congfigured the Device Manager correctly, before it's too late!
All that is shown in the Device Manager is the following:

IDE ATA/ATA controllers
AMD SATA controller
ATA Channel 0
ATA Channel 0
ATA Channel 1
ATA Channel 1
Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

It seems that MS has gotten out of the business of making S/W drivers for SATA equipment.
And Gigabyte does not offer any suggestions in the Handbook dated 2013, on how to connect the CD/DVD drives.
The HDDs are found and they are running.
Is it possible that I have plugged in the CD/DVD cables in the wrong place?
I ask this question because I have erased and restarted my PC more than two times with the above data erases, and MS claims that the installed driver S/W should be found the Drive installed by Win 7. But only the HDDs show up, and not the DVD drive!
Upon checking Manual again, I find nothing in it that tells the user how to connect a DVD drive!
The drives that are mentioned are only Hard Disk Drives!
