Hey, prepare for a big post.
So first of I will begin with the previous issue I had and story that went along with it to give you some background info.
I was away for all of December in Japan and when I come back home to my computer (working at the moment) it was having some issues with the RAM (ie. not reading all of it) so I decided to mess around with it a bit and try and reconnect it.. Then I try to restart my computer but nothing happened... After working through all the hardware, figured out it was a dead motherboard.. ASrock 970 extreme 3.. So I sent it away to have it repaired/replaced as it was still under warranty.

A month and a half later I get back the supposedly working replacement motherboard, which when I tried to boot didn't work again and turned out to be dead again.. (got the local service store to check to be sure). 7 weeks later and 100 odd bucks later (postage + service fees etc) I got fed up and tired of all the messing around that talking with retailer (also I start university in a few days) brought about so I just went out and bought another motherboard ASUS M5A97 R2.0 and installed everything and it booted fine to windows and was super fun happy times..

Now onto to the problems that ensued and that I am currently trying to fix... There is a few so I will list them in order of their apparent appearance to me.

1. Open up firefox for some quick browsing and to get the latest graphics driver but when I try to download it the error of: " X:\TempFiles\User could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred.
Try saving to a different location."
For which I tried: changing the location of the downloads, changing it back, clearing the cache, temp, cookies etc with ccleaner, clearing entire temp folder in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local but to no avail. I have yet to uninstall and reinstall yet but will do soon, however I also have google chrome which works fine but I would like to fix this problem rather than just changing browsers.

2. So as google chrome works, I downloaded the lastest GPU graphics also making sure to remove the catalyst control centre and all video drivers through control panel and registry cleaner of ccleaner (btw my GPU = HD Twin Frozr III PE/OC 6950) and tried to install it fails to fully install and comes up with this error half way through installation: "Application Install: install package failure!"

3. So as that didn't work, I thought it might have something to do with the many windows updates I need to install.. Of which most of them installed successfully, however .NET Framework 4 updates seem to always have an error occur and fail to install successfully. So I tried the solutions on this page (.NET Framework update installation error: "0x80070643" or "0x643") but to no avail.. It just comes up with error code 643 in windows updater.

Those are the three main issues I have ran into at the moment but there is other random problems that have popped up like:
-itunes randomly just stopped working when it was working perfectly fine a few hours ago.
-cannot schedule to run a error checking of the disk through computer-properties-tools-error checking.
-Cannot run windows troubleshooting wizard.

So this is the conundrum I am in at the moment, I know that reinstalling windows and formatting the hard drive is an option but I kinda only want that to be a last option as I really don't want to have to install all the programs and things I already have on my hard drive.
Aside from this problems and other ones that might pop up the system seems to be working relatively fine, ie. browsing the web and using most of the installed programs is fine...

Other steps I have tried for the various problems include: turning on/off antivirus and firewall, running scans on antivirus, yelling at my cat...

I think the issue either lays in the .NET Framework or this mysterious X:\Tempfiles\User thing...

Any help that you could provide towards either fixing this or solutions for these problems would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Wade.
PS: Don't know if this was the correct sub-forum but it does contain driver issues... Also I was going to include some pictures as well but they seem to become corrupted, damaged or too large according to windows photo viewer.
