An easy way to make a bmp for the animation:

1. Download Infanview
2. Install it obviously :P
3. Open it
4. Go to image menu and click on 'Create Panorama Image'
5. Click the radio button 'verticle'
6. Select images, press 'create image'
7. go image menu again and go to 'resize/resample'
8. change resolution in pixels to 200x21000
9. save image as bmp with name activity

Hope that helps.

we might end up stuck waiting for a big company to come out with an over sized piece of customize software that costs $30 :(

It is probably because 'everyone' working very hard on it (marcisj, joakim, and myself) moved to joakim's thread where he posted the first working version of this to be seen with detailed pictures. It is annoying to update both threads especially since a nice all-in-one is not ready for most people.

Change Boot Logo/Screen

I think your asking for this:

Custom Boot Logo/Screen Example:
Browsing Miscellaneous on deviantART

How they recommended installing it:
Coder for Life - Projects - Windows 7 Boot Updater

never tried it myself but I've heard it works. Might want to check it out if that's what ur looking for. Personally I like the default, and never had a need of changing it, but that's just personal preference.

Hope this helps. :D

@RBCC

Sorry For Responding So Late,

you Open OobeFldr.dll in Restorator OR Resource hacker or a simular app

and the exe file is called GettingStarted.exe

NOT Welcome.exe OR WelcomeCenter.exe like you would assume

It does work. But we need moar themes.. which is easily made. As all we need to create a startup logo is 105 bmps, at 200x200 px . So. Im gonna do afew themes and you can comment on 'em soon.

He asked, so I simply answered. Something wrong with that ?
If you wanna "tweak" your os without even rolling up your sleeves imo is lame and lazy. That way you'll never learn how to actually "tweak" your os.

:thumbsup:Well said

... all i said is that most people want a neat little app or .reg key to install to achieve the end result . . . if not for hackers a lot of os customization would not be possible.

A. Go write an app yourself. Programmers don't have the time to endlessly write lines of code for others who don't understand a complex system beyond *point* and *click*

B. Hackers are really just programmers, in a sense, in the way that script is manipulated into doing something different, sniffing for security holes or making back doors

If it wasn't for freelance programmers with a lot of time on their hands, a lot of great apps and software wouldn't be floating around.

Hell yea it's worth! I want my grinning eyepatched skull back with the text saying: Micro$hit Windows Pirated Edition, Right to copy

Bythe way,I never had a single virus with XP ('cept for blaster mybe ) and i used a TON of bootscreens (which were freakin' exe's! Dont tell me, THOSE weren't security risks!)

LOL

My question is why bother changing it in the first place.? do you reboot that many times a day that it gets annoying?

My main goals (as the developer of the software) are for the following reasons:
  • Branding (selling computers with your branding instead of / in additon to MS's)
  • Hide the fact it is Windows (for HTPC's, medical devices, and other specialized equipment)
  • For machines frequently started up / shutdown (car PCs)
  • Because you can

I cannot get win7 boot updater to work on my system. I'm using windows 7 ultimate x64.
Figured it out, I was using service pack 1. I just did a fresh install and win7bootupdater works sweet.
