Solved Change Icon of the folder and bind to it

I have changed the icon of a folder. After it copied to a CD.and opened in a new P.C.
and folder copied to that. But my new Icon does not display.

When you changed the icon of the folder you might have pointed to a file in windows containing the icon image.

Once the said folder is copied to the CD and then again copied to another computer, the folder will look for the custom icon image in the same location where it was in the first computer. If the file containing the icon is not there in second computer, you will not see the custom icon as it defaults to the windows folder icon.

To avoid this you can save the image of the icon to a .ico file and include this .ico file along with the folder. Whenever you copy this folder to a different computer, you need to copy the .ico file also. This will make the folder retain the custom icon.

I edit the Desktop.ini files in the folder I wish to change, after changing it using the built it customize tab. It's really simple: Change any line that has the full path to just the icon name. For example; "G:\Imaging\Photoshop Resources\Tutorials\Tutorials Folder 1.ico" would be changed to simply "Tutorials Folder 1.ico". This works for CDs, flash drives, external HDDs etc. If you add the line "IconIndex=0" it will work in every windows version back to at least XP.
