Do I need to change folder structure because of these errors?

I'm working on my Mom's Windows 7 computer. I'm more of a Mac guy, so I am wondering if an error I encountered is significant.

Here is the sequence of events that led up to this:

My Dad (who seems to always want to be directly involved in computer maintenance even though he doesn't know anything) thought there was some need to move my Mom's files off the computer before bringing it to the repair shop. So he moved many things (not everything) from \Users\Mom to somewhere else, but he doesn't remember all the steps he followed ... he moved or copied them two or three times.

When I got involved, it seemed that most of the files had ended up on another computer on the local network, at a folder I will abbreviate as \FinalFolder. This folder contained hundreds of documents in the root, along with a folder "My Documents"

i.e. \FinalFolder\doc1.docx
\FinalFolder\doc2.docx
etc.
and
\FinalFolder\My Documents




So my first question is, do Windows computers normally have a "My Documents" located at \Users\Username? Like say is there a "\Users\Mom\My Documents" ?

What I did was create \Users\Mom\My Documents\foo\ and copied in doc1.docx, doc2.docx, etc.

Then I copied everything from \FinalFolder\My Documents\ to \Users\Mom\My Documents\

This worked until it hit a certain subfolder, say \FinalFolder\My Documents\Bar\. It gave an error that it didn't have permission (perhaps because it was open? not sure). I closed all open Explorer windows and programs, and tried again. Got some error about not having permission to create a new file or folder in \Users\Mom\My Documents\. Rebooting the computer fixed that error and I was finally able to copy \FinalFolder\My Documents\Bar\ to \Users\Mom\My Documents\Bar.

So I would like to know if this resolved the problem okay, or if something might go wrong down the road.

Don't think you're going to have any future problems.
Normally you have a C:\Users"name"\Documents that on Explorer is shown as "name"\My Documents (a link). If you click on it, the path on the title bar will display C:\Users"name"\Documents.
