Changing between OS: vista and 7

I just installed windows 7 and used my product key which has now been activated...

just wondering if I used my HP recovery disk to and clean install and return to windows vista...would I be able to go back to windows 7 later with my same product key? does the product key assign to the computer or after its activated can it not be restored?

I am thinking of doing this because the net at my school is playing up with win 7 and the IT staff dont know how to fix it (or dont have the software right now)...but I dont want to throw away windows 7 if I want to use it in the future...

What version of Windows 7 did you install? The RTM or the RC?

Habitually, you can make infinite comeback between both. But, I can suggest you to look for the tutorial on dual-booting. I don't have the links ready but it's in the Tutorial sections.

Well I got it from the msdn microsoft network. so i think its the rtm version

Yes, you will be able use the same key from MSDN on Windows 7 whenever you want to reinstall it next. It's the RTM (retail) version.

ok so this activation is locked to my laptop? I couldn't install 7 on my desktop PC could i..?

Yes, you can install any other OS that you want on it. It's just that a OEM version of a operating system is permanently tied to the computer it was first installed and activated on. That's all.
