Okay, so what happened was I was trying to partition my hard drive. Never did it before, and was pretty much just stumbling around, I guess some of the settings must have been off since it told me it was going to convert to Dynamic. I had no idea what Dynamic was until I had already converted it and found out I couldn't multi-boot with it. I only have one drive in, and even though my OS is on this drive my laptop runs fine. I just know that this is going to cause problems somehow in the future, so I want to fix it now and get it over with.

I do have recovery disks from HP, and I have all of my needed files saved to a disk. I've heard of some programs such as "Aomei Dynamic Disk Converter" but I don't really feel safe using them. Basically, should I reformat my hard drive? I've read about it here, but I've also read that you can't install from a recovery disk. And the recovery disks have already failed me once before (I tried to reinstall windows from them, it installed but somehow skipped the setup for username etc. and resulted in BSOD's at boot). On top of that, I also have a recovery partition. But that will be lost in the reformat. I tried to reinstall and format from the factory settings recovery, it went through fine but it's still dynamic. Windows 7 x64, by the way.

Help is very much appreciated

It seems you were fine with destructive conversion but for others who want to convert without having to reinstall use free Partition Wizard CD v. 4.2 which still offers that as a free feature: pw422.zip ISO - Windows Live
