Changing icons for specific filetypes?

Hahaha. Well, this is frustrating, it seems like what i thought should be
the simplest task ever, especially when thinking of how easy it was with Windows XP.

Question: How do i change the icon for a specific icon in windows 7?

As you might figure, i want to use the icon i got for
my .wsz on my .mp3 files. (Big icons)

Searched the forum for something simmilar, and various combinations.
Searched the net and found something regarding regedit / .abc files
though it didn't quite hit home with me. Atleast this simple procedure
must be easier than that?

Sorry man, but i can't see how i can change the icons in here.
Please explain.

Please be sure to read the tutorial completely to avoid having problems with this.

In step 4 of the tutorial, look as the (Default) for the .mp3 file extension.

Afterwards, scroll down until you see WMP11.AssocFile.MP3 (the default) in the left pane in step 6 of the tutorial.

Okay, i get it now.
BUT! seriously, is this the only way to change icons for file-types now?

Is this a program that runs in the background or is it just making adjustments in the register and exits?
If it is the latter. Wohoo!

and yeah, i kinda did it with, though i had to screen capture the icon on my desktop and make a new one from a png,
but it kinda did the job. <- since i didn't find the icon for Wsz extensions anywhere.
