Changing Media Center Background / Themes

Utilizing Restorer 2007, I was able to find the HORRIBLE media center startup sound. I found one I want to replace it with. Now how do I overwrite the original in the ehres.dll??

The file is called... ehres_dll_INTRO_A its a .wav file. I cant figure out how to put it back in.

Once you have created the new file with the sound you want, give it the same name as the original file. Use Restorer 2007 to open the ehres.dll file, right click on the original intro file, then select assign to, and navigate to the new one you created, then click save. Restorer 2007 will then make a backup of the original ehres.dll file for you in case you need to revert to it again. Hope this helps. I did the same thing awhile ago with the intro file, it is so short (like 5 seconds). What did you change it to?

That's my problem. I can't find where it was. Its a .wav, all I can see are .png and .xml's and stuff. I used restorer to extract all .wave's so I could find the startup .wav. I found it and am now baffled as to how to overwrite the original .wav.

You should not have extracted it. Are you on w7 32 or 64 bit? I am on 32, if you like I can give you a copy of my ehres.dll file. Just overwite the original one with mine. You need to take ownership of it first.
Double click this registry file to merge with your registry: http://files.getdropbox.com/u/976813/own.reg-take%20ownership%20of%20registry.reg once you have done that, just right click on your ehres.dll file and select take ownership.
Then if you have 32bit w7, copy and replace your ehres.dll file with mine. You might have to stop the services for media center first before you can replace it. here is the ehres.dll file if you want it: http://files.getdropbox.com/u/976813/ehres.dll. Once you have replaced the ehres.dll file, open it with restorer 2007 and find the wav file, then right click on it, and select assign to, then navigate to your new wav file.

Don't worry. I'm manipulating a backup. Not the original. I made a custom backdrop and have saved the original. If I send you my ehres.all, do you think you could overwrite the .wav for me with one I provide to you?

Ok, then maybe I am confused. You want me to merge the original wav file back into the dll file you sent me? I thought you were trying to put a new wav file in there. Let me know EXACTLY what you want, so I can make sure I do EXACTLY what you want. Sorry for the delay in reponse. I don't sit at the screen all day,lol. I will stay on to fix this for you.

That was my VMC startup sound. W7 mc startup sound is very lame. Yes, please merge the one I sent.

I might be wrong but I think I saw a gif image that's used for that in the dll, but again I may be wrong. Its been a good while since I have played with it. Zay would know better than me I'm sure.

Thanks xzener - that gets me half way there, no I just need to know where in the list is the file inside the ehres.dll I need to change - I cant see any wav files in there at all - not sure how they are listed.

Sun I dont know the list, but the way I would go about it is to extract one someone else has modded (like the bloak theme) and compare to the real thing to see what files are getting changed.
