Hello Neil,

You should be able to go to Toshiba at the link below, and enter your model number to be able to download and install all the Toshiba software and such for Windows 7. :)

What Toshiba software do you miss? Much of this bloatware interferes with better versions built into Win7. So unless you know you need and use it regularly I'd not reimport it into a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 as this defeats the purpose of going completely clean.

i am missing the toshiba face recognition , the dvd player and disc creator and my web cam is not working . i wiped my system fully. installed the windows 7 ultimate 64 bit disc and then went to toshiba web site and downloaded all drivers for my qosmio G50 115 model.

Did you follow the steps fully to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7,
especially enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and then running all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates, with reboots, until there are no more?

If your still missing those functions then import any special software Toshiba has posted for your exact model for facial recognition, webcam and DVD player including any hotfixes or patches posted. You may also need to import the chipset.

Once you've followed the steps to correctly Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 including the above let us know if any of those are still not working and we will help you resolve them. Sometimes it takes research by asking Google about a function for that model, but we've never not been able to resolve one.

whooah ! Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7,looks very complicated. all i did was pop the 64 bit disc in and followed instructions . i clicked the custom option not the upgrade option. where do i import the chipset from and the software thats missing ? i went to toshiba site and entered my model and downloaded everything possible (2 pages of downloads) but the facial recognition, webcam and DVD player/ creator/burner where not listed ???

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 may seem long and therefore complicated because it compiles everything that should not be forgotten to prepare for, and all of the tools and methods which work best, when reinstalling the OS.

It also deals with how drivers are best handled in Win7 to avoid problems with drivers that may be out of date or other than what Win7 wants.

When you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
and Check For Updates, how many Important and Optional Updates are available now?

i dont think you follow me... my laptop had vista installed on it when i bought it. when windows 7 came out i installed that. the recovery discs are with all the toshiba stuff and windows vista 32 bit . all i want is a 64 bit OS with my all toshiba stuff
what is the difference between me inserting the windows 7 disc and starting from scratch and the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7? or are they the same thing ? and where do i find the Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update option ?

Click on the blue links which are illustrated tutorials showing how things are done.

If you want the Toshiba bloatware because you actually use it and not just to have it smother Win7 like it does, then if it isn't available for download on the Toshiba Support Downloads webpage for your model you may need to run the Vista Recovery disks, then do an in-place Upgrade to Win7 by running the Win7 installation media from the Vista desktop. A simple guide to a successful in-place upgrade - Windows 7 Forums

If you do this you'll have a lot of duplicate Toshiba utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7 so I would remove all of them you don't actually use. Use this guide to Clean Up Factory Bloatware

I would instead just try to import the actual programs you use and want into a Clean Install. If these are not on the Toshiba Support Downloads webpage then ask google for how to replace them by name for your Toshiba model number. You can also ask back here for our help for any specific programs that you know you want and use.

Neil,

If you have a "retail" Windows 7, then what Greg posted for a OEM clean install wouldn't apply to you. We assumed that your laptop came with Windows 7 preinstalled.

You would do a clean install as usual with your Windows 7 installation disc then.

Were you able to get any Windows 7 drivers or software at the Toshiba link I posted above?

They most likely don't have a Windows 7 version of them available then.

If you look at the link with Vista selected, are they available? If so, you could try installing them in compatibility mode to see if they may work.

Those drivers are almost always delivered by Windows Update which is the way most drivers not in the Win7 disk are supplied.

Have you enabled Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
and then Check for Updates to see what is queued in Important and Optional?

Once these are all installed (except the Bingware) post back which drivers are still missing in Device Manager, with a yellow ! on the device listing.

I've always seen the webcam and face recognition drivers come in via Updates. However this only allows your webcam to function using your messenger, etc., as the actual software where you can see yourself and adjust settings is normally separately downloaded. Often it can be found by a search, or isn't really needed. Did you install the package here? http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation...all&page=2&ID=69438&OSID=30&driverLanguage=42

Your DVD drive should play anyway, but you can replace the Toshiba disk player with Windows Media Player or Center which should already be set by default. Put in a DVD now and see what happens. It may need to be set as Default in Control Panel>Default Programs.

There is a 2011 BIOS update that "adds increased functionality for your System" which may include 64-bit support that was then becoming prevalent: http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation...all&page=1&ID=79519&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42 Follow the steps closely to avoid interrupting the BIOS update as it can be risky if there is a power failure or you dont' do any specified follow up steps correctly. If in doubt ask back for our help before proceeding.

Try uninstalling the cam software and driver in Control Panel>Programs and Features and Device Manager.

Then run Check for Updates again to see what driver WIn7 wants.

If none install the driver alone from the Toshiba link. If it fails or cam will not function with your messenger, Facebook or whatever else you use it for, then try installing it per Shawn's suggestion in Compatibility Mode.

If that fails post back the make and model of the cam, google it for Windows 7 driver. You can also sometimes find how to reinstall its software by asking Google for "Windows 7 cam software on Toshiba [model number]"
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html

i just tried to uninstall it in programmes and features. there was no option to uninstall, only change. i clicked on change and this box appeared that says ' set up needs the next disc' ??? under that it says 'please insert disc 1 that contains the file data2.cab ? i have never used a disc to install the web cam ???

Here's what is said about the 80070103 error in Windows Update. Basically, it means you are trying to install a driver already installed. Restart the computer and check Windows Update again to see what's available afterwards. :)
