Solved changing OS from 32 bit to 64 bit.

i dont know what i did now.. it was doing me head in... i must have clicked the hide all ms stuff then tried all unchecked boxes except kaspersky. i now have ms essentials also.. at one point my screen dimmed to half the brightness and the desktop and toolbar went black (with my icons showing), so i got lost there and used system restore again to that may 2nd point.

I JUST looked up that driver using the hardware you suggested and it came up with this ???

You do not want to run two AV's. I would uninstall one or the other.

The issue was apparently something starting up with Windows, likely Toshiba crap you installed yesterday when the problem returned. It may have still been in msconfig even if you uninstalled it.

I would take a Win7 backup image of this condition now so you can always reimage your HD if the issue returns:

I told you which drivers to install for those devices yesterday in post 354, Bluetooth and TV Tuner which are both in the Downloads list with Win7 x64 drivers: Driver Downloads - Computers | Toshiba - Toshiba . Do it now and report back if any are still missing. If so take a screenshot of the missing driver's Hardware ID.

According to Google the MultiMedia driver is a TV tuner and Missing ACPI\TOS6205 Driver - TOSHIBA FORUMS is the Bluetooth driver. You can find them on the Toshiba SUpport Downloads webpage for your model.

just tried shutdown again and it did shut down, but on start up that bloody blue dell icon returned at the bottom right of toolbar ? Dell system detect ???

Give me your Teamviewer ID and password.

Keep Teamviewer open on your Desktop.

Check again for Dell in Programs and features to uninstall it. Then check All Programs. Did you look at your Chrome Add-On's under Tools?

Type Dell in the Start Search box to see where it is located, uninstall it. It may need to be searched in Registry to get rid of that Startup key.

If you click on the Dell icon in System tray does it open?

How did you get Dell on your PC? No one else installed Dell so wouldn't you know?

Dell Detect and a bunch of other stuff still starting in msconfig>Startup and >Services. Toshiba Fingerprint and Face Recog had not been uninstalled.

Turned off Dell Detect and rooted it out of Registry in dozen places.

Installed HD Processor driver from Toshiba to resolve missing driver. It was also missing Bluetooth stack.

If Shutdown problem returns uninstall the two Toshiba programs one at a time to see which resolves it (if any).

thanks for that... its now shutting down ok... i still have to download a few things from toshiba as the web cam is not working for skype etc... and i dont understand why i have never had a problem with kaspersky before.... you took it off for a free one ( ms essentials ) which sounds crazy ! surely it cant be anywhere near as good for protection ? but what the hell do i know !!!

No one here recommends Kapersky, almost everyone recommends MSE. You can reinstall Kapersky but you'll need to uninstall MSE if you do. Try MSE for awhile to see if you like it.

There may be cam software on the Toshiba downloads page. But only a driver should be enough for it to work with any applications like Skype. The full software just allows you to see yourself. You can google the Cam make/model + Windows 7 software to try to find it if it's not on the Toshiba downloads page. Ask back if you have any problems.

I saw the Cam driver installed in Device Manager, which is where to find it's make/model.
