CHKDSK - Windows stuck in loop when booting

When I tried to boot Windows 7 yesterday, I got a prompt saying that a disk check had been scheduled. I initially thought this got stuck because it seemed to freeze on 10% and the numbers alongside that figure didn't go up. I rebooted my computer and let it start again, after a few hours(!) the disk check finished and started on another of my drives. Again, I let this complete and it eventually rebooted itself. Upon rebooting it however, it did the exact same thing and appears to be in a loop just doing the disk check over and over.

I Googled this and opened the command prompt and checked all my drives (it disk checked f and c) but none are marked as dirty. I ran the command to stop the disk check on all drives anyway but still the problem persists.

Right at the start it says I can cancel the check by pressing any key on the keyboard but for some reason, it doesn't work - not sure if it's not recognising the keyboard or not.

I've also tried to boot into safe mode to see if that bypasses it but that hangs at classpnp.sys so that's a no go right now as well. I tried renaming the file to classpnp.old as a forum suggested but it blue screens and restarts if I do that. I'm currently trying a linux boot cd to replace to file to see if that works.

Any help with any of these issues would be great.

Do you know what it says on the BSOD? Pressing F8 while booting will enable you to Disable automatic restart when the computer crashes so you will be able to read it.

Try copying the .dmp file from you computer through Linux (C:\Windows\Minidump\) and put it on another computer in the same directory. Then run the tool here and follow the instructions to upload the files created.

Also run chkdsk /r

Can't see the BSOD even after disabling automatic restart, just restarts regardless.

chkdsk /r does the same thing it does when it boots, just stuck in that constantly.

I'll try to get the .dmp file, not having much luck and probably doing more damage than not atm. I'll keep you updated.

What is stopping you from copying the .dmp file off your HDD through Linux?

How long did you leave it to run? It can get stuck at 10% for a while in my experience.

Try this link for sfc commands and this one for some other help. Do the latter first.

When you get to stage 17 please make sure the values are what they should be.

Nothing now, I changed something and my boot order changed so couldn't boot the Windows installation. Going to rename and then I'll get the .dmp file.

As I said, the first time, I'd thought it had froze but then I left it afterwards and let it complete. Took a good 3 or 4 hours then it just rebooted and did the same.

Did you schedule the check disk or was it unexpectedly run?

Unexpected.

Did the tutorial and that hasn't work, going to try the second one now.

Also, there is no Minidump folder in the Windows folder you suggested.

Please post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Management drive map with listings, using the Snipping Tool in Start Menu. Label each partition in Computer>[Drive Letter]>Properties first.

Unplug all other HD's while you run the HD maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan on each HD, followed by a full Disk Check from the System Recovery Options Command Line.
