Recently, I had to uninstall chrome as it took over as default browser. I need IE as default since Firefox and chrome don't support certain types of files. I set IE as default and then reinstalled chrome. Now, everytime I open chrome, it brings up 2 tabs, both with my homepage. No difference in them.

There doesn't seem to be any help on the web for this particular situation. Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks in advance.

Rob

Hi Rob Mc,

Try this. click on 3 dots on Chrome window (top right side) for customize and control panel for Chrome. Once you are there, scroll down to "On Startup" and select "Open the new tab page" (first option) and deselect if any other option is selected.

Keep us posted.

Hi Archer,

This idea worked to stop the second tab but in the process, I lost my home page. Is there a way around this??

Thanks

Rob

In this case, go to settings again and select "Open a specific page...". In the below box, click the 3 dots again and edit to add your homepage. Don't add other page.

This way only your homepage will open in one tab.

You are the genius Archer. Chrome isn't my browser of choice but I still have to use it occasionally. Therefore I don't know a lot about it. You hit the nail right on the head. Only one tab opens and displays my homepage.

I thank you very much for your quick response, (and for making my chrome life easier. LOL) The double tab was really starting to annoy me. I could find nothing online to deal with this specific problem.

You take care and have a GREAT Holiday Season.

Rob
