Cisco VPN issues on Windows 7 Beta

This worked for me.

1. Install Cisco DNEupdate. DNE Support - Deterministic Networks
2. Reboot
3. Take ownership and delete ndis.sys (in c:\windows\system32\drivers).
4. Take ownership and delete ndis.sys.mui (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\en-us).
5. Install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.04.0300 or above.
6. Reboot
7. Windows 7 will repair itself (because we deleted those files). This will take a minute or so and it will automatically reboot.
8. All should work well!

Ahh you just beat me to it on posting this. :p

I found the same thing at the link below. It has worked on all 3 PC's that we are testing windows 7 on in the office.

Good news... with 7068 build you no longer have to do those .dll hacks.

Just install and use :)

I actually still had to install the DNE Update for it to work, but at least it didn't blue screen and I didn't have to screw with the dlls...

I use Virtual PC so I can access my computer at the same time as I'm in the VPN. I installed XP onto the Virtual PC and my VPN software without any issues.

AnyConnect only works with certain Cisco devices, but if your companies devices allows AnyConnect to work with it, then Yes AnyConnect works with Windows 7 x64.

Cool, I will get the latest build and try again. Up until recently I would get blue screens on Win7 64 RTM.

Hi there, Kevin.
I have used Greenbow before for access to a 3rd party. It is pretty cheap but not as easy as AnyConnect.

Yeah I looked at the setup, interesting to say the least, but unfortunately a lot of the VPN's I am going into are CISCO PIX devices running IPsec and I am on Win7 Ultimate 64 and from what I have seen AnyConnect doesn't play in that arena.

Just got the new CISCO VPN Client software for 64 bit OS. I'm going to give it the acid test this weekend. Maybe finally I can connect to the PIX devices......
