I have Civilization V on my lappy (specs below) and it always starts crashing whenever I have a lot of stuff always in the future era. Crashing always happens when I end a turn or when I try to annex a city.

Graphics on lowest save game size around 1.5mb each for the late games

It definitely is not a problem with drivers as I can play the game UNTIL graphics no longer come into play. For example, when attacking a city, that would be what I would think to be graphics power, but when you end a turn, your screen just stays there until the CPU has done all the processing.

My game never crashes mid game but always during the end of the turn when no pixels are being processed.

but I did check my directx just to show its up to date but for some wierd reason its showing 10/23/2010

Civ5 is a very CPU demanding game (much more so CPU intensive than graphics)

It recommends running on a Quad Core machine.
Sadly, yours just meets the the bare minimum requirement of 2.0Ghz Core2.
And many times the Minimum Req. just means the game will start and run, yet no guarantee it will run well.

How many Civs and City States do you have in your game currently?
You might want to try a game with just, say, 4 Civs total to see if things run more stable.

It may also be worth considering monitoring the CPU temps, to see if its getting too hot processing the turns.

I have 9 civs on a large map. The game went smoothly even after I explored the whole map. It only started once I entered the future era and had about 40 units.

It started crashing also when there were about 100 cities (not all mine) and I was conquering 13 cities at once

Have you let STEAM patch the game to its current version or do you have it set to offline of never update?
The last 2 were on Dec 12the and Dec 22nd.

The latest fixed a bug that causes a Crash on some systems. And the other addressed late Game issues as well.

You might be one of the ones the experiencing this crash, so it may be worth allowing the game to update if haven't yet.

If the patches do not help, Im not sure what to suggest other than try a game with fewer Civs and City States.
Sadly, 9 Civs on a large map is a rather large game. It might simply be too much for your CPU.

As far I am aware, No.

Since it is a Steam enabled game, all updates are distributed directly through Steam.

Just enable the "keep this game updated" option for Civ5, and restart Steam.
It'll patch on restart if it doesn't start instantly.

If you've had this disbaled and not recieved any patches since release, this very well may help your problem.

It didn't work. I tried playing a bit more and I've narrowed down the problem. The game almost always crashes when I'm capturing a new city. It has only crashed once when loading a game.
