Clean install error Windows cannot install required files.

This is what is happening. A friend gave me his DELL Inspririon 531 2007 Desktop. It has a pirated copy of 7 ultimate x64 (which I am not sure if this supports 64 bit). Prior to looking into how old the machine was, I was able to install 8.1 64 bit. But it wouldn't allow me to install any drivers from the DELL site. Said that the machine wasn't compatible. So, I tried with Windows 7 32 bit and I am getting this error. I have deleted all partitions, but now, I do not have that option when I choose Custom-advanced. There is no Delete option.

A few times I got the error at 5% other times at over 60%. What can I do to get this to install? It is a legit DVD of windows. Why would it have allowed 8.1 to successfully install now it is doing this? What files are missing? I have tried both deleting the partitions and not deleting. Same result.

Install the correct version of windows that`s on the COA, either buy a new installer from Newegg or call Dell for Recovery CD`s.

The dvd you are trying to use is corrupted and no good.

How do you know that my DVD is corrupt? I have used many different ones and now, after the install of 8.1, now it says that. All of the sudden. Can you download these disks as iso anywhere on DELL or anywhere else? I have a copy of Vista but it isn't the copy that came with the machine, and it is a business copy that I never used.

No , you can not download a legal iso unless you have a full legitimate working retail key.

Mike please do not post the same problem twice, especially at the end of an old thread from 2010.

Well, it isn't the issue, as I have tried on multiple official DVD's. I apologize. I commented, then realized how old the thread was, so created a new one

Do a diskpart clean from command prompt at boot:

OK, then use Diskpart with the install dvd to clean and setup the drive, or I always use a Partition Wizard Boot CD to setup my hard drives, ssd`s etc.

Using the diskpart clean is to delete the MBR/Boot code.
It may be "corrupt" from the previous installs causing the current problem ?
Does bootable PW CD delete the MBR/Boot code ?

But whether Linux was installed, Windows 8, or whatever, it`s always worked.

If you didn't have the Drive Options (Advanced) to delete all partitions, then you were running the disk from Windows and not booting it as required. So stick closely to the steps in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.
