hi what is the best way to go about this? should i disable ie8 first, then launch off clean install of ie11 x64? i don't want to patch up from default installed ie8.

also, i noticed the directory still exists in program files x86 should i/can i remove those.

Stand alone installer !
No, I would not remove anything else.
It will not harm anything to leave it there.

ok stand-alone installer. should i remove feature ie8 first?

about the left-over files- aren't those files for the 32-bit, because ultimate win7 came with both 32 & 64 bit ie8 installed.

Those aren't left overs, it's just a normal installation, many programs have both 32 and 64 bits versions and those can be installed concurrently. IE is one of those, and that's not a bad thing. Just run the IE11 installer and it will update the existing install.

ok i will do that during my real install, this current test-run i actually removed IE8 at program features first, and then doing a clean IE11 install. don't know if that made a difference. actually i don't think so.

anyway i will leave the x86 folder there. thanks to both of you
