Background: I did a clean Win 7 install from USB burned iso and had zero problems after solving a MB problem. Then I had an ASUS motherboard. I've since upgraded because the MB was having problems and needed to be replaced. I now have an MSI board.

So, I'm trying to do a clean install with the same Win 7 install USB and now install is wanting a CD DVD drivers. I don't have a CD or DVD device connected. I can't get past this. FYI, I didn't have one when I clean installed several weeks back either. No clue why I'm getting this.

Before, one tells me to just restore from a previous backup. Can't I use a different program for backups, which doesn't see my storage drive. Great right. This is why I'm trying to do a clean install.

You may need usb 3.0 drivers. You can borrow this boot media. After it has loaded into ram, insert your installation usb, use either

1) setup17514 which should find usb sources\setup.exe automatically

Or

2) winntsetup to browse to usb sources\install.wim

17514x64-v3.iso

I knew that may cause as issue so I'm plugged into a USB 2.0 port the same as I was when I did clean install weeks ago. So the USB driver shouldn't be an issue.

Still suggest you use the boot media I linked to.

Have you updated your installtion media? If so, you may need to use either:

1)setup18015

Or

2)winntsetup and browse.

They are in the start menu\programs\install folder

I have no clue what you are talking about here. I have an Win 7 iso burned into a USB thumb drive, which worked through an ASUS USB 2.0 interface but through an MSI 2.0 USB interface the WIn 7 install now wants a cd dvd driver. The install USB I created is only a few months old.

FYI, I tried to do what you posted above. I receive a no Windows boot found and that was as far as I could go. Even inserting the install USB was pointless. I'm starting to see buying an MSI board was a mistake.

MSI have a tool for win7 for the 170 mobo. Those drivers are in my boot media already.

Did you google for win7 drivers for the 270?

Not sure if that's going to solve the problem. I used MSI's Smart Tool to create a new USB bootable Win 7 and that had the same results. I downloaded two sets of drives, PIDE/SATA and USB 3.0, and tried to use those to install when the WIN 7 ask for drives and that was a no go. This is obviously wrapped around MSI. Like I said, I had zero problems 4 weeks ago when I was using an ASUS board and I clean installed.
