Hello All

I did a fresh install of Win7 Pro 64Bit yesterday from an OEM disc to a new Samsung 850 Pro SSD.

2 sets of initial updates, which included SP1, went without a hitch with Windows Updater set to let me know when updates are available so I can choose to download etc.

Today I got an alert that there were 200+ updates available for download, I went through them and deselected KB3133977 which can mess with Asus MB's, then hit continue... an hour later my system was still "Preparing to Download."

I changed the Updater settings to Download but let me choose what to install, rebooted, and a short while later I was told there were 173 updates ready to install.

I checked again to make sure KB3133977 hadn't made it back onto the list and hit continue... 15 minutes later my system was still "Preparing to Install."

At this point I figured something must be broken, so considered rolling back through the Restore Points, trying a Repair install, or just nuking the drive and starting again.

But before trying any of the above I've included the CBS file, a screen grab of the SURT tool after 2hrs, the sfc Scannow results, and the results of running the Windows Updater Troubleshooter.

I hope you guys can help... thanks in advance!
Paul

Hi Paul,
might be an easy fix, suspected cause >> you installed >> OEM << OS directly to NEW ssd.
your system specs look more like a custom build
please run this tool,

lookin back over your earlier posts does this relate to the VM install?

Hi Torchwood

I ran the MGADiag tool... please check your inbox... but there's also been some progress of sorts.

After Googling the error message in the Updater Troubleshooter above I manually installed KB3102810, rebooted my system, and was told there were 235 Important/Recommended updates to install.

Out of the 235 updates, 171 were installed, leaving 64 Failed updates, the Error Code on each is the same... 800F0902.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Paul

Hi Torchwood

Okay, I'm going to mark this as Solved. Manually installing KB3102810 after running the Windows Updater Troubleshooter seems to have done the trick; my system is updating again without any issue.

I went through ALL my updates, after sorting them by name, and was able to see that each string of Failed installs of the same file was followed by a Successful install of the file after running yet another batch of updates this evening.

There were, however, 5 individual files that were just "Failed;" I downloaded each one and attempted to manually install them, and in each case I received an, "...update not applicable to your computer," error message.

My system now appears to be all caught up!

Thanks for helping!
Paul

No worries,
