I'm buying a new PC and before I use it I want to clone the SSD that comes with the PC to a smaller SSD. Years ago when HHD ruled I did have one fail, I had backups but not all of the data. I want to make sure I don't get stuck again with a failed drive and not have a backed up copy ready to go. Would Easus or Clonezilla be good choices? I don't need a 1TB SSD, most of my laptops have at best no more than 100GB of data as I don't take photos and I generally store software I download on DVD's, not on the PC, they'd take up too much space. Just looking for some advice. The new PC will come with Win10 Pro. I used Easus years back on a Win 7 PC to clone it but can't recall just what that entailed at the time. Does the newer version of Easus give detailed instructions? TIA

Thanks for the reply. I looked closer at the specs and it show M2 not the old SSD or HHD's. It's a thinkpad t14 and from what I "think" I understand from sites I looked at, I can't clone a M2 to an M2 unless I buy all new gear. I may be misunderstanding what I've read (it's all brand new - slow down, learning curve ahead) all the videos I watched show starting the PC up and live cloning. I did find Disk Genius mentioned besides Acrontis and Easus but this will require buying the M2 enclosure since I do not have one. Is there any way to clone an M2 to another M2 by slaving them to a PC? The whole goal was not to start the PC with the original M2 until I was sure I was keeping it, seller allows returns. Like I said, learning curve. Any help someone can offer is appreciated.

You can create a disk image to a spare drive then write the image to the new drive
