Cloning Windows 7 from existing partition to be used on Windows 10 SSD

I took a look at a thread from 2010 regarding The Safest Way to Clone Win 7 for dual boot, but I would like to know if the same applies for Wn 10? Does Win 10 have more advanced features to help achieve this? I have read that it's not recommended to try to dual boot Win 7 install on existing Win 10 but better to install Win 10 after on existing Win 7 is that right?

Here's what I would like to do cloning my Win 7 install which is on a 75 GB partition of a 500 GB internal HDD that has dual boot with Win XP, to A 250 GB internal SSD with Win 10 and dual boot all I need is my Win 7 partition cloned to the SSD where the Win 10 is installed I don't need the XP that's on the drive, so technically couldn't I just create a partition on the SSD and just clone the Win 7 Partition and use something like GRUB or BIOS to get the partition recognized as a boot partition? I really don't want to have to do a clean install of Win 7 and then reinstall everything that's on the Win 7 partition if I can avoid it, it's gonna save me a headache if I can. How would I go about copying the clone to the Win 10 PC? Would I copy it to a 3rd HDD and then copy it from there? This is pretty confusing if someone can walk me through this step by step I would appreciate it. I'm in no hurry and don't want to have to spend even more time fixing the install if it goes bad.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. What sort of disk are you cloning to ie mbr gpt uefi. Have you never thought of just using virtual box and running o/s as virtual pc its simpler and safer

It's a Lenovo system with a pre installed Win 10 Home so I'm guessing it's to an MBR? I haven't modified anything on it yet. The reason I don't want to use a virtual box is that A. Although it's newer and more powerful than the Win 7 PC I don't have a very powerful PC on the Win 10 machine it's just a Lenovo hybrid Tablet B. I have software on the Win 7 install that does not work on the Win 10 install C. I haven't had much luck with virtual box in the past.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Please edit your profile with all the Lenovo specs.
If it's a new system, probably it's a UEFI - GPT, so you can't clone Win 7 from the old computer.

Some new hardware isn't compatible with win 7, only with win 10 and Linux.
If you can't disable Secure boot and enable CSM on Bios settings, you probably can't install win 7.
