Is 'File/Exit' gone completely in Windows 7? Am I now supposed to close from the red X in far right top? :sarc:

No idea what you could be talking about. Whether or not you have a File->Exit menu item has nothing to do with Windows 7.

Perhaps ypou mean in Windows Explorer?
Click "Organise" On Left". Click "Layout"
Select "menu Bar"
Then you have your old menu bar back with "Files- Exit"

If, however, you mean IE. Click "View" - "ToolBars" , and then Menu bar
